Win This Space 2018 Grand Prize Winner Now Open

Ritual Apothecary is open on Charlotte Street!

Nadine McCallen, owner of The Willow’s Bark and this year’s winner of Win This Space, has opened the doors to her new shop, Ritual Apothecary. As part of the grand prize, McCallen has received one year of free rent in a downtown storefront.

“We are incredibly happy to see all of Nadine’s hard work pay off. This new storefront not only gives her business the next step in reaching its full potential, but it also enhances the liveliness and economic vitality of our downtown. We hope this gives other business owners the inspiration they need to succeed,” says Terry Guiel, Executive Director of the Downtown Business Improvement Area.

Ritual Apothecary is located in downtown Peterborough at 196 Charlotte Street.

“It will be the home of The Willow’s Bark studio, which creates wildcrafted skincare and herbal remedies from locally foraged plants, as well as other like-minded companies producing all-natural, small-batch, sustainable beauty products, herbal remedies, and artisan goods with care and attention to protecting our natural habitat,” says McCallen.

This is the second year for Win This Space, a competition that aims to support budding entrepreneurs and promote economic development in Peterborough’s downtown. The initiative is made possible in partnership by the DBIA, Peterborough and the Kawarthas Economic Development, Community Futures Peterborough and Shorelines Casinos.

“Initiatives like Win This Space, that celebrate Peterborough as a place to invest, while supporting business owners to start and grow, are integral to supporting startups and entrepreneurship in our region,” says Rhonda Keenan, President and CEO of Peterborough and the Kawarthas Economic Development. “We are pleased to see Nadine (Ritual Apothecary) join a number of unique businesses who are adding vibrancy to Downtown Peterborough and finding strong support in the community.”

“Shorelines Casinos was excited to take part in Win This Space this year as this program gives our local entrepreneurs a platform to showcase their ideas and provide them a once in a life time opportunity to get a head start as a new business owner. Our local businesses are a vital part of this community and a program like Win This Space has such a significant impact on the community by adding growth to our city and providing new resources to the people of Peterborough. We are very excited for Nadine and wish her success with the launch of Ritual Apothecary,” says Bryan Buchanan, General Manager at Shorelines Casinos.
