Ontario Declares State of Emergency

Ontario has enacted a declaration of emergency to protect the public and contain the spread of COVID-19. Among other things, this act legally requires the immediate closure of:

• All bars and restaurants, except to the extent that such facilities provide takeout food and delivery;

• All theatres including those offering live performances of music, dance, and other art forms, as well as cinemas that show movies;

• Concert venues

It also prohibits public events of more than 50 people.

These measures will be in place until March 31, 2020, at which point they will be reassessed or the order could be terminated earlier.
