Type: Seasonal Position (30 hours per week for 9 weeks)

Compensation: $16.00/hour

 The Peterborough Downtown Business Improvement Area (DBIA) is a non-profit organization that represents more than 400 businesses in the downtown core. Our mandate is to build and maintain a strong business area for the community and promote the downtown area so that our businesses thrive and prosper.

DBIA is hiring a Marketing & Project Coordinator who will work with the Marketing Manager, and the Downtown Vibrancy Manager. Creativity, initiative, and autonomy will be an asset when working on various DBIA programs and marketing projects.  A majority of the work will be done remotely with some in-office work and some in-person meetings with businesses.


Marketing & Project Coordinator duties and position will primarily involve supporting communications and marketing initiatives related to the, Love for the Boro, DBIA winter programming, Downtown Vibrancy public space projects, and the new DBIA website.


The Marketing & Project Coordinator will utilize a number of applications including photography, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, WordPress, MailChimp, and Microsoft suites in a collaborative setting to achieve marketing and communications outcomes.



Marketing Projects

Marketing and communications support (75% of your time under Marketing Manager’s supervision)

Support the implementation of marketing and communication plans including:

+ Data entry

+ Programing support

+ Member engagement and outreach

+ Photography assistance using a DSLR camera

+ Supporting DBIA rebranding efforts and online presence

+ Supporting content development for website and social media

+ Assisting in copy editing

+ Marketing production assistance

+ WordPress website support


Downtown Vibrancy Projects

Vibrancy support (25% of your time under Downtown Vibrancy Manager’s supervision)

Support public-facing communication efforts and provide logistical coordination for downtown vibrancy projects.

+ Social media content creation

+ Supporting placemaking initiatives and programming



+ Creativity and ability to adapt to various roles (from data entry to writing social media content to coordinating initiatives)

+ Excellent writing skills

+ Experience using DSLR camera is preferred

+ Good knowledge of social platforms (formats, brands, trends, influencers etc.)

+ Comfortability using Adobe Suites (Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom)

+ Strategic thinker and attention to detail

+ Strong communication skills and a sensitivity to the audience (public facing versus project partner communication)

+ Ability to organize work and manage priorities

+ Ability to work in a collaborative environment

+ Interest in supporting local business and improving public spaces

+ Interest in green space projects is preferred

+ Fluency in English



This position is partially funded through Canada Summer Jobs, and thus candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

+ Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;

+ Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act 3l; and,

+ Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
