Guidelines for posting an event:

The purpose of the event page on downtownptbo.ca is to highlight some of the fun and interesting events going on right here in Downtown Peterborough. Events in the downtown add to the culture and vibrancy of our community. Our aim is to promote the downtown to help our downtown businesses thrive.

This page is meant to be a resource for the general public to use to find out what activities they want to attend downtown. We are looking for events that entertain, inspire, and provide positive experiences downtown. We appreciate that there are many different activities organized downtown, but events posted here must have a broad appeal to the general public. Events where the main purpose is to raise awareness of an issue or cause are discouraged from being hosted on downtownptbo.ca. This events page is family-friendly, please keep this in mind when writing your description and please clearly state if the event has age restrictions. Events deemed to be in poor taste will not be posted.

Events can be posted by anyone organizing an event downtown, regardless of membership in the DBIA, but it must take place within the Downtown Business Improvement Area (see map here). Exceptions can be made for large events (expected attendance of 500+) that are deemed a benefit to the downtown and are within a short walk of the downtown, like Del Crary Park.

Downtown businesses are welcome to promote their special events so long as it has added activity beyond your normal course of businesses. A 20% off anniversary sale won’t be posted unless that event also features elements like live entertainment. We also ask that if your businesses regularly hosts entertainment that you use your discretion to post the more significant events (not a recurring weekly event).

The DBIA maintains the right to approve and remove event posts at its discretion. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the DBIA office.

This is used for displaying the date on the front end and may include a range.
