Congratulations to Denise Fajt of Peterborough, our first Holiday Shopping Passport early bird winner of $500 in downtown money which was drawn Dec. 6 at Tribal Voices on Charlotte Street.

Denise picked up her prize on Dec. 6 at one of her favourite places to shop: T-Elle Boutique.

Two more early bird draws of $500 in downtown gift certificates will be drawn on Dec. 13 and 20 with the $1,500 grand prize to be drawn Jan. 10. The next draw will be:

Needles in the Hay

377 Water Street

This year there are more than 130 participating stores, restaurants, cafes, pubs and service businesses. For the complete list, visit:

“This year’s redesigned Holiday Shopping Passports are doing well with shoppers already submitting more than $500,000 worth of completed passports to the contest,” says Terry Guiel, Executive Director of the Downtown Business Improvement Area.

Here's how it works: every time you spend $10 at a participating business, a box on your passport will be stamped. When your passport is filled (20 stamps), complete the form and drop it off at a ballot box at one of the participating businesses. Each completed passport is a ballot for a draw to win downtown money. There are more than 100 participating businesses downtown.

The Holiday Shopping Passports program is run by the Peterborough Downtown Business Improvement Area and rewards people for supporting local businesses by shopping, dining and enjoying downtown. Last year’s program saw shoppers stamp $1.5 million worth of Holiday Shopping Passports.
